Minty Monday No.74

Figma to take on Framer and Webflow? Introducing: the new Yummygum, and more

Hope you had a great weekend! Here’s this week’s Minty Monday, enjoy!

Introducing: the new Yummygum

To kick things off: as you’ve probably noticed, Minty Monday is sporting a fresh new look. And you may have also noticed I skipped a week. Why? Glad you asked!

Yummygum —the digital agency I co-founded and where I’m Creative Director— is the driving force behind Minty Monday. Last week, we officially launched our rebrand and a brand-new website. Something the entire team and I are super proud of. I’d love to show you what Yummygum stands for. Watch the video to get a feel for our reintroduction—and don’t forget to check out the new site. Curious to hear what you think! Let me know on 𝕏 or LinkedIn

Grassify your device with Grass

If you're one of those living-life-on-the-edge types who refuses to use a case on your iPhone (or any other device, really), then this one’s probably not for you. Unless, of course, the lawn-inspired design of Touch Grass is enough to finally sway you into protecting your device. Bonus: you can also grab some Grass for your Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and more.

AnimeJS; an alternative to GSAP?

If you're looking to add motion animation to a web-based digital product, GSAP is probably one of the first tools that comes to mind. But it's always smart to keep an eye on how the landscape of tools, frameworks, and libraries evolves. One that recently caught my eye is AnimeJS — a lightweight JavaScript framework for building simple to moderately complex animations. It may not be quite as powerful as GSAP at first glance, but it’s definitely worth trying out.

Get your listening, personal Tolan

Love seeing how mental health keeps gaining ground as a much-needed counterbalance to the fast-paced (and often overwhelming) online life. Tolan is a new iOS app where you get your own personal ‘tolan’—a cute, approachable little avatar that listens and interacts with you. Sure, it might feel a bit odd at first to open up to a digital character, but the Tolans are seriously adorable, and the whole setup feels surprisingly comforting.

Figma to take on Framer and Webflow?

Last week I came across a LinkedIn post where someone shared a screenshot of a dropdown in the Figma interface. In it, there was a new option: Website, labeled with an 'Alpha' tag. That tag suggests it's a feature still in development. While some argue Figma is late to the game with this, I think many designers will actually see it as an increase in value—mainly because it lets them stay within their trusted design environment. That said, it remains to be seen how high-quality those websites will actually be.
